FIRE RATING EXTREME
When fire rating changes to EXTREME, shooting rules are adjusted accordingly. The range will be closed unless a range safety officer (RSO) is on site to monitor shooting. Big Canyon Gun Club will attempt to schedule an RSO on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 12 noon. The gate will be locked outside of those days and times.
Shooting Range Safety Rules during Extreme Fire Season:
a. RSO will check all ammunition to ensure there is no steel in the bullet.
b. No incendiary projectiles, including tracers, can be shot at any time, and no steel core or steel jacket can be shot during extreme fire season..
c. No exploding targets used at range at any time
d. During Extreme fire season, targets need to be placed in front of dirt berms. For fire and safety, all projectiles will be captured in berm, and no firing at targets, cans, etc. on range floor.
e. RSO will open the range gate at the shooting range at 8am and close at noon.
f. Muzzle and cylinder flash when shooting can start fires. Remove cleaning rags, solvents, and soiled sandbags from the shooting bench when firing.
g. Smoking is not allowed outside of vehicle
h. For special events please check our TRLA or Big Canyon Gun Club websites and RSO's will try to accommodate shooters for personal events.
